Breast Cancer Awareness Month

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month: Let's Stand Together

Breast cancer affects millions worldwide, and here in Australia, it’s the most commonly diagnosed cancer among women. With 20,973 Australians expected to receive a breast cancer diagnosis in 2024, that’s 58 people every single day. It's vital that we come together to raise awareness and support those affected.

No One Should Face Breast Cancer Alone

This October, Breast Cancer Network Australia (BCNA) is spotlighting the power of Connection and Community. It’s a time to recognise the importance of standing together—ensuring that everyone diagnosed with breast cancer feels supported, informed, and connected.

Taking Steps to Stay Healthy:

  1. Get Screened: Early detection is key. If you're aged 40 and over, make regular mammograms part of your routine. Talk to your doctor about the right schedule for you.
  2. Know the Signs: Awareness of symptoms like lumps, changes in breast size or shape, and skin texture changes is crucial. If something feels off, seek medical advice immediately.
  3. Support the Cause: Donate to organisations like BCNA, or participate in fundraising events to help provide resources for those impacted by breast cancer.
  4. Reach Out: If you know someone going through a diagnosis, let them know you’re there for them. A simple message of support can go a long way.

Resources and Support

BCNA provides essential resources for those navigating a breast cancer diagnosis. Reach out to their Helpline at 1800 500 256 to access information, support, and guidance.

Together, we can make an impact. Let’s stay connected and continue to support one another this Breast Cancer Awareness Month and beyond.
