Strong, Grounded & Empowered: A Mother’s Day Message from Our Nutrition Capital Ambassadors

This Mother’s Day, we’re celebrating the powerhouse women in our community — the Mums, Mums-to-be, and incredible mother figures shaping the next generation with strength, love, and resilience. At Nutrition Capital, we believe in supporting every step of your journey, whether you’re in the early days of pregnancy, deep in the trenches of motherhood, or simply showing up as your best self each day.

We spoke with two of our amazing ambassadors — Kimmy Duong and Vanessa Panella — to explore how motherhood has reshaped their approach to health, wellness, and self-care. Their stories are powerful reminders that health isn't just about physique — it's about strength, mindset, and setting an example for the next generation.

Vanessa from DVP Fitness: From Body Goals to Purposeful Living

Before becoming a Mum, Vanessa’s health journey was all about the physical. But motherhood changed everything.

I trained and ate for body composition alone — without ever truly nourishing my body or understanding why I even wanted to be healthy. I was under-fuelled and chasing quick fixes.

Then everything changed. I had my two beautiful children, and suddenly, I found my why.
They became my reason — not just to be healthy, but to become the strongest, calmest, and most present version of myself.

As a mum, I quickly learned that investing time in myself wasn't just important — it was essential.
Yes, the sleepless nights, the endless after-school activities, and the demands of work and home life make it hard to find the time.
But when I do show up for myself — even in small ways — I’m a better, calmer mum.

My habits evolved with my life. I started waking up before the kids, training at home with nothing more than two Kmart dumbbells and a mat. That’s how I lost 28kg after having Milania — not through perfection, but through consistency and nutrition habits (inclusive of a supplement stack that supported my needs) that finally made sense.

It was during that time I found true balance.
I stopped restarting my diet every second Monday. I let go of the "all or nothing" mindset.
Now, I focus on ticking most of the boxes each week — and that’s where the real progress comes from.

Balancing a growing business, motherhood, and a husband with his own business is no small feat. Routine keeps us afloat, but what really keeps us grounded are our Saturday night family date nights — phones off, no work talk, just us and a meal.

If I could leave one message for all the mums out there, it would be this:

You DESERVE to feel your best.
Investing in yourself is far from selfish — it’s a form of therapy for your busy mind and tired body.
Your health, happiness, and peace matter.
You are WORTH it.

Kimmy Duong: Pregnancy, Performance & a Powerful Mindset

Accredited Sports Nutritionist and Online Coach Kimmy Duong has spent years mastering her craft — from winning her FMG Pro Card to guiding clients through life-changing body transformations. But pregnancy added a whole new layer of perspective.

“It’s been so interesting going through pregnancy and seeing how dieting for a bodybuilding show has actually benefited me in more ways than one,” Kimmy says.

“Pregnancy demands physical strength — and it also demands a resilient mindset. Years of disciplined training helped me navigate this journey with ease, even achieving a quick, natural labour. I’m grateful for the canon events that shaped my unique approach to health.”

Kimmy’s pregnancy wasn’t just about physical preparation — it was also about mental clarity. For her, training is essential, not just for aesthetics, but for long-term health, confidence, and setting the tone for her child’s future.

“Strength training is a privilege. It’s not about building muscle or fat loss — it’s about preventing disease, preserving mental health, and showing our kids that looking after your body is non-negotiable.”

And if you’re starting out on your own journey? Kimmy has one simple piece of advice:

“If you’re unsure where to start, find a coach — but do your research. Education and individualisation matter. I’ve seen too many cookie-cutter plans. You deserve better.”

Kimmy’s final encouragement for new or expectant Mums:

“Don’t believe everything you hear — especially when it comes to pregnancy fitness. Build your self-awareness, question everything, and trust your body. That is your superpower.”
